Prof. Apostolos Kyriazopoulos

Democritus University of Thrace

Apostolos Kyriazopoulos is a Professor in the Department of Forestry and Management of the Environment and Natural Resources at Democritus University of Thrace. His field of specialty is “Management and Improvement of Meadows – Forestry Systems”. He has been teaching courses related to “Rangeland Ecology” and “Management and Improvement of Rangelands” for more than 15 years, as well as the following courses: “Ecology and Management of Grazing”, “Biodiversity of Terrestrial Ecosystems”, “Management of Natural Resources” and “Method of Grazing”. He has published more than 150 scientific papers, 45 of which in prestigious international journals. He is a member of the scientific committee in 8 international journals, including the Journal of Environmental Management (ELSEVIER) and Agronomy (MDPI). He has organized or participated in the scientific committee of numerous national and international conferences and has evaluated the scientific proposals submitted for funding in Greece, Cyprus and Italy. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the FAO Sub-Network for Mediterranean meadows and grazing resources, and served as President of the Hellenic Range and Pasture Society in 2013-2014, and Vice-President in 2011-2012 and 2019-2020. He has also developed research activity for the management of grassland ecosystems in other Mediterranean countries besides Greece such as Cyprus and Lebanon as well as in the Caucasus (Azerbaijan). He has participated in 24 research projects, in 7 of which as a scientific coordinator. Among other things, he drafted the national standards for the management of grasslands in Lebanon, studied the possibility of pastoral development in northern Evros, drafted a plan for the restoration of the burnt grasslands in Oinousses, assessed the grazing capacity and prepared the grazing management plan in the Akamas peninsula (Natura area) of Cyprus and explored the possibility of sustainable pasture management in Azerbaijan using Sentinel satellites

Prof. Tida Ge

Ningbo University

Professor Tida Ge studied and worked in various universities and institutes worldwide: China, UK, Germany, USA, UK, and Japan. His expertise covers soil ecology, biogeochemistry, rhizosphere processes, C and N cycling, land use and agroecology.

Together with his group, Tida focuses on soil biogeochemistry with long-term and deep expertise for processes of C and N cycles, priming effects and nutrient mobilization. His special interests are in soil – plant – microbial interactions in hotspots – locations with very high activity and abundance of microorganisms like rhizosphere, detritusphere. Tida's research interests are in the fields of rice rhizodeposition, low molecular weight organic substances in soil, priming effects, visualization of enzyme activities, microbial metabolism in soil, Microbial C use strategies, soil resource stoichiometry.

To understand the process mechanisms, Tida group use a broad range of stable (13C, 15N) and radioactive (14C, 33P) isotopes applications including pioneering position specific labeling and combine these approaches with biomarkers (DNA/PLFA/necromass-SIP) as well as microbial activity parameters.

Tida is an active member of several editorial boards, such as Associate Editor including Soil Science Society of America Journal and Frontiers in Agronomy, editor and guest editor including Soil Ecology Letter, Biology and Fertility of Soils and Plant and Soil.
